Zusebau

Zusebau
Zusebau

The building, which is named after the pioneer of computer technology Konrad Zuse, is the headquarters of the Department of Computer Science and Automation. The special features of the building are its multi-part shape and the windows, which look like a digital code or punch card. This structure allows short distances between the departments and laboratories.
If you are wondering what the 4x4 squares with changing lights on the facade mean - this is a binary clock. Instead of digits, individual bits are used, which allow all times to be displayed in just 16 blocks. As inconspicuous and unremarkable as the binary clock appears during the day, it is an eye-catcher at night.

The Helmholtz Building is one of the oldest buildings on the Ehrenberg campus and is the headquarters of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
In the meantime, the building has been renovated and refurbished. Here you will find the Helmholtz lecture hall, which is a listed building and equipped with modern video and audio technology, and several seminar rooms.
Teachers and students have access to highly efficient research facilities in the field of high-frequency and microwave technology and for virtual testing of automotive radio systems in the mobile communications and antenna measurement laboratory.
The student-run University Film Club (HFC) shows current and selected films here every week. A great cinema atmosphere is created with popcorn and excitement on the screen.

The building complex of the Kirchhoffbau provides space for groups of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as institutes of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and cross-faculty research facilities and centres.
The Group for Lightning and Surge Protection uses two modern high-voltage laboratories for research on lightning effects and simulations.
There are two lecture halls and several seminar rooms in the building.
A bust next to the main entrance commemorates the first rector of the former College of Electrical Engineering, Hans Stamm.
